A team of kids, with some help from the teachers, are keeping down one of the local bullies near the edge of a pond by simply standing around him and not letting him out or anyone else in. One of the bully's friends goes across the pond, builds a small boat, and fills it with candy for the bully. The bully's friend launches the ship across the pond and one of the kids keeping the bully isolated goes to turn the boat around and send it away. When the kid reaches the boat, he reaches down to turn it around, when a small trap grabs on to his hand, and he damages the boat and candy getting out of the trap. The kid collects as much of the candy and boat parts as he can to return to the bully's friend, but the bully's friend goes yelling to the teachers to stop helping the kids isolate the bully.
It's not exactly your normal childhood scene, sure. What is far more important is who you would side with: the kid who tried to turn the boat around, or the bully and his friend?
No, really. Stop to think about it before reading on.
Yesterday, May 31, 2010, a group of Israeli commandos armed with paintball guns and pistols rappelled onto a boat, flying the Turkish flag, filled with supplies that was attempting to run Israel's blockade of the Gaza Strip (which has Egypt's cooperation). The ship was filled with supplies, but also 600 activists who assaulted the commandos even as they were landing on the ship with metal rods, knives, slings, and two pistols taken from the commandos. The commandos' intent was to intimidate the crew into turning the ship away from the Gaza Strip and return to whatever port they came from; instead, the commandos were forced to beat back a mob and rescue all those who were injured (note: 9 non-Israeli casualties out of roughly 600 activists, none of which are specifically listed in any of my sources as being civilians). Those rescued by the Israelis were hospitalized if necessary and offered either internment or deportation.
Would someone please explain to me why all hate from this incident is being placed on Israel?
